happy new year

Just wanted to wish a Happy New Year to everyone. For some of you (including me) it's still a little bit early, but I won't be able to write this post later.
Have a wonderful evening & I'll be back in the new year with more nail art for you :)

golden rose jolly jewels 117

Hey everyone!
Sorry I've been absent for the past week, but I had to study for my finals. I'm so happy the holidays are starting here because I needed some rest from school.
Anyway, today I'll show you yet another one of the Jolly Jewels collection.

Jolly Jewels 117 is a glittery mix of larger and smaller golden hexagons submerged in a black base. Unlike the previous ones I showed you, the base isn't too sheer, so it might cover the golden glitter. That's why I recommend using it over a black base, rather than layering it by itself.
This one, by far, is the chunkiest of them all and very gritty. I used 2 coats of my thickest top coat and the results were still uneven. Besides that, it really is a gorgeous polish, perfect for New Year's Eve :)

Coming soon: four more swatches of the Jolly Jewels collection!

golden rose jolly jewels 101

Hey everyone!
Today I'm going to show you another one of the Jolly Jewels polishes that I bought.

Jolly Jewels 101 is a mix of different sized, multicolored flakies suspended in a clear base. This polish is insane! It flashes orange, green, purple and blue and it looks absolutely amazing. One downside though. The flakies look more like shards and even after 2 thick coats of top coat, it's still very uneven.

It spreads really good. I used only 1 coat of the polish for the photos.
I'd really love to try it on top of white. It might give a snow globe-ish effect.

golden rose jolly jewels 109

Hey everyone!
Today I'm going to show you a polish that I absolutely fell in love with since the moment I saw it and comes from Golden Rose's new collection called Jolly Jewels (more about the collection after the swatch).

Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 109 is a glittery mix consisted of pink and white round glitter suspended in a sheer baby pink base. What I love about it is that it's opaque in 2 coats and looks very much like the "indie" polishes that many of us love, but can't really afford.

It has a rougher texture once it's dried, so I do recommend adding a coat or two of high shine top coat.

Here's the rest of the available colors.

This is by far my favorite collection by Golden Rose. Stay tuned for more swatches of this collection :)

nude & lace

Hey everyone!
Finally found some time to show you one of the manicures I did during the past week.
We got our first snow here and I got all excited about it, but snowy weather usually means gloomy days, so I started taking photos under an incandescent light.

I've had this manicure in my head for a while, but I never got round to actually doing it.

I used a pretty nude-ish pink shade by Aura called Look Into His Eyes. I haven't swatched it properly, because I totally forgot when I was doing the manicure, but I'll try to do that as soon as possible.
On my thumb and ring finger I stamped a lace pattern from the BM-323 stamping plate using a black polish. I can't believe how detailed the image turned out to be! Great job, Bundle Monster!
On the rest of the fingernails I added a small black square rhinestone and finished the whole manicure with top coat :)

I must say that I would have worn this for a long, long time if the rhinestones hadn't got caught in my gloves :(

avon smoky plumes & some stamping

Hey everyone!
I've got another new polish from Avon to show you, but this time it's one of the SpeedDry+ Line.

Smoky Plumes is a dark, almost grey plum creme. It's opaque in 2 coats. The application was tricky due to the fast drying time. I love fast drying polishes, but I need some time to make adjustments if needed. I'd wait a couple of minutes for a perfect manicure, rather than having a mess on my nails in no time!
It might me good for stamping, but I haven't checked that.

I figured gold would look gorgeous with this polish so I grabbed Avon Golden Vision and stamped these vintage-ish swirls on my nails using plates BM20 and BM21. Unfortunately, what I didn't know is that Golden Vision is really bad at stamping :(

It still wasn't the worst manicure I've worn, but I didn't wear it for a long time.

festive colors from avon

Hey everyone!
Today I'm going to show you two of Avon's latest additions to their festive collection of make up.

Golden Vision is a golden, super sparkly polish with a hint of silver shimmer, too. It looks like a foil polish, but it's not as foils are known by their good stamping capabilities, while this one doesn't do very well with stamping. It's opaque in 2 coats and possibly good for layering.

Lucky Penny is a copper shimmery polish. It has a similar consistency to Golden Vision, but I haven't tested it for stamping yet. I was a bit skeptical when I ordered this polish because copper tones are pretty hard to work with, but it's really pretty in real life. Even though its color is rich, it doesn't stain. Opaque in 2 coats.

random kleancolor swatches

Hey everyone!
Today I'm going to show you the rest of my Kleancolor haul.

Blue-eyed Girl is a glittery mix of big and small blue glitter suspended in a blue jelly base. Shown below is 2 coats of this polish over a black base. The glitter doesn't really spread evenly, but you don't need to fish the particles out. Smells a bit harsh.

Metallic White is a very shimmery, white polish. It doesn't really appeal to me as a metallic, but you could say that it has a finish similar to a foil polish. Even though it looks like a topper, it really is opaque in 2 coats and can be worn on its own.

Chunky Holo Scarlet is a glittery polish consisted of small, round iridescent glitter that's suspended in a red jelly base. It does pretty well on its own. Below is pictured two coats of the polish. In the bottle you can see a flash of green, but that side of the glitter doesn't show on the nail.

updated swatch list

Hey everyone!
Just wanted to show you the new Swatch List page on the blog.
I spent a couple of days making it happen and I'm very satisfied with the result.
Now you can see the color drop of the polish which is linked to the corresponding post.
Hope you like it :)

max factor quick swatches

Hey everyone!
Yesterday I was at my friend's house and she had five Max Factor polishes that she got as a gift, so I decided to do sort of a quick swatch post about them.

L-R: Dazzling Blue, Purple Haze, Boji, Intense Plum, Onyx
Dazzling Blue is a sky blue frosty polish that flashes green when exposed to light. Opaque in 2 coats. I don't usually like frosty finish, but this polish wasn't streaky at all and it's really pretty, too.

Purple Haze is a royal purple creme. Opaque in 2 coats. I don't know why, but I don't really like this shade. It's my least favorite of all.

Boji is a taupe creme polish. Opaque in 2 coats. Not anything special, but perfect for when you want to wear something subtle.

Intense Plum is a plum creme. According to Wikipedia Colors it's more of a Persian Plum. Opaque in 2 coats. I really love it. The photo isn't color accurate.

Onyx is a plain black creme. It's opaque in 2 coats, which isn't really good since black is normally used for stamping. The color is nice and shiny, but I wouldn't purchase it, as I already got my perfect black.

a few shades of grey

Hey everyone!
Today I'm going to show you three beautiful grey polishes. In my opinion, it's always better to combine swatches, but lately I've been swatching random colors, so I can't really make a grouped post. And yes, I do know that the title isn't the most creative of them all :)

Anyway I decided to start from the lightest shade of grey, which is Essence Grey-t To Be Here. This is another one of the improved Colour & Go line and it's a very pale grey with tons of pink shimmer. Personally, I adore the pink and grey combo. It doesn't really show on the nail as much as in the bottle, but under incandescent light it's insanely beautiful. 2 coats for the swatch.

The second polish for today is Kleancolor Concrete Grey, a beautiful dark grey creme. I bought it mainly because my favorite dark grey - Essence Movie Star, unfortunately, reached the bottom and I couldn't find it anywhere in the stores, so I figured Essence has discontinued it. I suppose that it's not an 100% dupe, but it'll do the job :) The great thing about this polish is that it's a one-coater!

And the last polish is Kleancolor Charcoal, a beautiful almost black, gunmetal polish. Also opaque in 1 coat. I had a bit of a hard time applying it, as it can get quite streaky. This polish stains. A lot! So don't forget to use a base coat because no acetone will remove the damage :)

I don't think that I could pick out a favorite, because I'm a sucker for dark polishes, especially grey ones.
Which one is your favorite?

kleancolor chunky holo purple

Hey everyone!
I'm officially back from my exam break & I'm ready to blog again.
Today I'm going to show you an awesome combination including a Flormar duochrome and Kleancolor Chunky Holo Purple.

Chunky Holo Purple is consisted of multichromatic iridescent glitter submerged into a very sheer purple-ish base. It's basically the same polish as Chunky Holo Bluebell and I've said this a couple of times - you don't need to buy them both (unless you really, really want to).
So, I normally swatch glitters on top of cremes just so that you can see its true side, but since I've shown Bluebell already, I decided to do a little experiment with layering. Multichromatic glitter over duochrome base, let's see how this goes.

Me likey :) Oh and these aren't my real nails. I guess it was a nice day for experimenting and I wanted to see how round nails suit me. I like the effect, but I couldn't wear the fake ones for more than a couple of minutes.

kleancolor chunky holo bluebell

Hey everyone!
I'm back with another Kleancolor swatch. Before I begin I wanted to give you a little heads up. I won't be able to blog at least for a week. Exam week starts on Monday and I barely managed to squeeze in this post in my schedule, but I didn't want to leave this blog post-less this week :)

Chunky Holo Bluebell is a glitter polish consisted of multichromatic, iridescent particles that are submerged in a very sheer blue/purple base. The particles will show colors from green to orange, which is really nice. Since the glitter isn't made of a metallic foil (like it normally is) it's pretty easy to remove and won't do any damage to the nail if you go for the normal removal method. You can layer it over just about any color without changing it because the base is really sheer. I was disappointed that I couldn't get the bottle look no matter how many coats I used, so I swatched it over a dusty olive green polish :)

Note that Chunky Holo Bluebell and Chunky Holo Purple give the same result on the nail, so you don't need to buy the two of them. Even in the bottle they look absolutely the same.

Thanks for reading & see you in a week :)

kleancolor coffee

Hey everyone!
Today I'm going to show you yet another one of the Kleancolor polishes that I got a month ago.

Coffee is a brick red shade with a hint of orange and some subtle shimmer. It's opaque in 2 coats, but you may need 3 if you like thinner ones. I'm not sure why it's called Coffee, as I've never seen a coffee with this color :) It's a very pretty polish, anyway.
