born pretty store surprise bags

Hey everyone!
Around three weeks or so, BornPrettyStore came up with a cool concept for the shop and created "goodie bags" which they decided to call Surprise Bags. As soon as I read the announcement on Facebook, I went ahead and purchased three Surprise Bags (and later on three additional, but I will write a post when those arrive). It's very simple and interesting, especially if you want to try out some of their products and see the quality. Basically, for $0.99 you get a Surprise Bag with three nail art products. For me, it seemed like a great opportunity to try out some of their cute stickers.

They came packaged in a transparent foil bag and each bag contained three products, just as described.

Surprise bag 1

The most unique of the three (though, I'm not sure if I should call it unique, since it did have a sticker sheet that all others had, too).

The first products is a sheet with black lace stickers. This is the most interesting products that I got.

The second products is a sheet with gold Chanel and Dior logos. This is the products that was in all three bags. I'm not sure, but the stickers look like they are water decals. I haven't tried them out, yet.

The third and final products from this bag is an electric blue striping tape.

Surprise bags 2 and 3

Unfortunately, I received two exact bags. This is when I really got disappointed, because a week after I ordered my first three bags, I ordered additional three. I hope that I will get other products to try out.

Product no.1 is a sheet of Hello Kitty glittery stickers. I know that some grown up girls wear Hello Kitty and I find her cute, too, but these stickers seemed like they are meant for little girls, so I'll probably give one to my 5 year old cousin and use the other one for reviewing purposes.

Again, the Chanel and Dior water decals.

And, finally, a magenta striping tape.

Here's a photo and a list of everything I got in my three Surprise Bags.

• 1 x black lace stickers
• 2 x Hello Kitty stickers
• 3 x Chanel and Dior water decals
• 2 x magenta striping tape
• 1 x electric blue striping tape

Overall, I'm kind of disappointed with the products, but you know what they say - you get what you pay for. Considering the price, the products aren't that bad, but what makes me tell you not to buy the Surprise Bags is that, instead of adding some of their bestselling products, BPS seems to give the products that no one seems to be purchasing from the store. Technically, I got 5 unique products instead of 9.
I'm not going to persuade anyone not to buy the products. Try your luck, maybe you won't get as disappointed as me.
I'll wait for the other three bags that I ordered and then I'll write my final thoughts about the Surprise Bags.

my "flip flop fantasy" wannabe

Hey everyone!
Today I'm going to show you a very interesting franken polish that I created.

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy has been on my wishlist for ages (and I'm going to get it as soon as possible when I come back from vacation). I wanted something fun and bright for my vacation and I had an empty bottle, so I decided to mix some polishes and see what happens.

I know that Flip Flop Fantasy is neon, so is this polish, but I couldn't capture it on camera :(

Here's what I used: 3 parts pink neon, 1 part orange neon, 1 part white. I put the white, because I wanted it to be opaque after two to three coats, because the neons that I used are practically see through with no buildable color at all. I'm pretty satisfied with the way it turned out, even though I cannot be absolutely sure whether it's close to Flip Flop Fantasy or not.

I'm pretty bummed that I couldn't capture the neon part of the polish, but it is what it is.
I still like it a lot.

aura leaf him at the altar

Hey everyone!
Today I'm going to show you a really beautiful green nail polish that a bought a while ago.

Aura Leaf Him At The Altar, has a ridiculous pun in the name, but it's pretty accurate, since it has the color of the mint leaf. I know that everyone (including me) would say that this polish isn't exactly mint, but according to Wikipedia colors (my almighty color guide), it is.
It has lots and lots of green shimmer in it, but even though there's plenty of it, it's not too noticeable. It's opaque in only one coat and dries normally.
It reminds me of Avon Peppermint Leaf and as a matter of fact they are almost dupes, if it weren't for the shimmer in Leaf Him At The Altar.

Unfortunately, I don't have a color drop, because I lost the polish. I'm not even joking. I left it somewhere in my apartment after I swatched it and I have absolutely no idea where it is.

dark floral

Hey everyone!
This is the last post of the mini-series inspired by my clothes. There will be two more posts while I'm on vacation and when I'm back I have planned a couple of make up reviews, manicures and maybe even a vacation pics post.

This manicure is inspired by one of my floral summer dresses. I knew that I had to make a manicure inspired by this dress, not because it's my favorite or because I wear it so much (because I really don't, I have only worn it twice), but because I bought it because of the pattern.

I used a dark navy blue base. I painted a really light pink, almost white base for the flowers using acrylic paint. I mixed a slightly darker pink and went over the light pink base, leaving just a bit of it at the very ends. The next layer was the darkest pink, with little to no white in it. I painted over and, again, I left the ends intact. The final pink layer is with the light pink that I used as a base and I just dabbed it in the center of each flower. The last step is adding a couple of black dots in the centers.

I thought it would look much better with a matte top coat. I liked it better than the shiny version, but my matte top coat made streaks all over the manicure :(

Here's the inspiration for this manicure.

cherry blossom

Hey everyone!
This is post no.2 from my mini-series of manicures that are inspired by some of my clothes.

I chose to base this manicure on one of my absolute favorite t-shirts ever. The inspiration is a really beautiful neutral-toned floral top (pictured at the end of the post).

I didn't use the exact same colors as the top, but I stayed as close as possible.
First a little disclaimer, I'm not really sure if the flowers on the top are actually cherry blossom, because it looks like they are, but there are some palm tree-like leaves that confuse me.
Anyway, I painted a nude base on every nail. I used a little bit of coral-ish acrylic to make the base of the flowers. The next step was adding a bit of accent with yellow on each leaf of the flowers and then a couple of white dots. The last step was painting the branches using brown acrylic paint.

I placed the flowers as random as possible on each nail.
Here's the photo of my inspiration. I wanted to incorporate the birds as well, but I realised that it would just be too much on my short nails.

colorful pastel lines

Hey everyone!
As some of you may know, while you're reading this I'm on my vacation and this is a scheduled post. I wanted to make an interesting series and while I was packing I figured I could do manicures inspired by some of my clothes. This is going to be a mini-series consisted of three posts.

If there's one thing I know about myself is that I love stripes. Basically, 90% of my clothes include stripes in some way. Not too long ago, I found a really colorful tank top with pastel shades and, of course, I had to buy it (pics of the tank top below).

For this manicure, I painted a white base for each nail. The following couple of steps were adding the colored lines. I added yellow, blue, green, orange and pink lines. I didn't fill up all of the space, though. As you can see, there are two white lines left. I must admit that this was very messy, but I managed to fix it with the following step. I mixed a bit of black acrylic paint with water and made the "borders" between the colors.

I love how it turned out. It's perfect if you want to add some color to your nails.

Here's a photo of my inspiration - the colorful tank top.

july nail art challenge recap

Hey everyone!
Some of you that follow me on Instagram probably know that I did a July Nail Art Challenge created by @californails. She makes a list of themes every month, so if you want to challenge yourself, check out her profile and start painting nails :)
I decided to post all of the nails I did for the challenge, as a recap post. Unfortunately, my nails were breaking a lot and my cuticles looked horrible and I didn't want to take photos with my dSLR with terrible nails, so I only have phone camera quality photos (with Instagram filters, so don't expect too much quality-wise). Above each photo is the theme of the challenge and below is info about the manicure, such as used polishes, what I did to create it etc.

01. Pastel

Horrible tiny nails, yikes! Anyway, I was very lucky with this theme because I had just bought Essence Grunge Me Tender! and Golden Rose Holiday 63 and I accidentally swatched them one next to the other on my nail wheel. I loved the combo, so I decided to use it for this theme. I applied a white base, waited a couple of minutes for it to dry, added diagonal stripes on every nail, except the middle one and I painted the upper part mint green and the bottom part baby pink. For the middle finger, I just made a chevron with the striping tape and painted it the same as the others. No top coat for this manicure, because the mint green is suede and the pink is textured.

I don't usually match my nails to my outfit, but this time I had to. For my thumb and ring finger, I used a white base, waited a couple of minutes for it to dry and I taped horizontal stripes. Then, using Golden Rose Paris 134 (which sadly is almost empty) I painted all over the finger. I tried not to make it even, because the grey part on my shirt looks like it's made from several different shades of grey. I removed the tape and added top coat. The rest of the nails were painted with Avon Coral Bikini.

My first ever drippy manicure. Actually, I did one before, but it was a long time ago and it wasn't supposed to look like ice cream. I must be honest with you guys, I had absolutely no idea how to make drippy manicures. I have tried it thousands of times and failed. I practiced a lot before I did this manicure and I'm very proud of it. All of the nails are different because I wanted to show different combinations of flavors and toppings. Let's start with the thumb. The thumb is supposed to be vanilla (Rimmel London Alaska) ice cream with raspberry syrup, though the syrup did turn out a bit pale. The index is pistachio (Deborah Milano Pistache Green) and caramel. The middle one is banana (Maybelline Urban Lemon) and chocolate. The ring finger is orange (Seventeen Supreme 23) and white chocolate and the pinky is strawberry (P2 Being In Heaven) with strawberry. Yes, double strawberry. All of the toppings were made with acrylic paint.

For this manicure I used Deborah Milano I Am Your Mermaid as a base for all of the nails. On my ring finger and thumb I painted a couple of starfishes using acrylic paint. I added a couple of white dots on the starfishes and on the rest of my nails. I finished the rest of the nails with a bit of blue, randomly placed glitter.

I'm not sure if my nails were supposed to be even more simplistic, but I love them as they are. I used China Glaze For Audrey as the base and waited for it to dry. I made little triangles using tape on each of my nails and sponged a gradient using Essie Smooth Sailing and BK 16. I didn't expect for them to turn out looking like litte mountains, but they did. I'm going to try this during the winter, as well.
p.s. Pardon the horrible skin tone, it looked better on my phone's screen.

16. Glitter

I think that I messed this one up. Glitter is s beautiful and I could have made something looking way better. I used Avon Smoky Plumes as a base, then layered a coat of Essence Circus Confetti and Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 123, followed by two coats of Seche Vite. Oh, and I used a peel off base. My nails were three times their usual thickness. Nope.

One of my favorite manicures of all times. I wear polka dots like crazy, because they just look good on any nails. I used China Glaze For Audrey as a base (again) and made the polka dots with pink glitter. So cute!
p.s. Notice how my cuticles look way better than before. I'm currently half way through the 24h Hand Protection Balm Repair and it's amazing!

22. Lemonade

This was a really fun and summer-y manicure. I used Maybelline Urban Lemon as a base for every nail, except the ring finger and thumb. On the yellow nails I added lemon fimo cane and on the white ones I stamped the lemon image from BM-308 using the same yellow polish.

25. Swatch

This wasn't a particularly tough challenge. I was wearing Golden Rose Holiday 61 on my nails and took a photo of it :)

I wasn't too sure which color is my favorite, because that changes depending on my mood. I felt like wearing turquoise that day, so I added Golden Rose Paris 217.

31. Animal

Unfortunately, I didn't do the last manicure, because I wasn't feeling good :(

Thanks for reading! :)

p.s. Don't forget to enter my giveaway, if you already haven't!
